อย่างในสำนักวัดนายโรงก็มีเรื่องเล่าขานถึงต้นตำนานการทำเบี้ยแก้ของหลวงปู่รอดกันว่า วันหนึ่งหลวงปู่รอดท่านได้พบกับพวกชาวเขาชาวดอย โดยชาวเขากลุ่มนี้ได้พกเครื่องรางติดตัวกันมาทุกคน เป็นลักษณะของหอยเบี้ยที่มีการบรรจุปรอทไว้ภายใน หลวงปู่รอดท่านสอบถามว่าทำไมถึงนิยมพกกัน พวกชาวเขาก็บอกหลวงปู่ว่า พกไว้กันผีป่ากันไข้ป่าได้ผลดี หลวงปู่รอดจึงได้นำภูมิปัญญาศาสตร์ความเชื่อของชาวเขา มาปรับประยุกต์เพื่อผนวกกับวิชาอาคมต่างๆที่ท่านร่ำเรียนมา จึงสำเร็จเป็น "เบี้ยแก้" อย่างที่เรารู้จักกัน
ปรอทจึงเป็นธาตุกายสิทธิ์มีความวิเศษในตัวที่ทั่วโลกต่างมีคติความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับโลหะเหลวสีเงินนี้คล้ายๆกัน ไม่ว่าในโซนยุโรปหรือเอเชีย อย่างในโซนยุโรปก็มีเรื่องเล่าขานเกี่ยวกับความพิเศษของปรอทไว้หลายเรื่อง อาทิเช่นนักเล่นแร่แปรธาตุสามารถนำปรอทมาเป็นสสารตั้งต้นในการทำทองได้ หรือการทำปรอทสำเร็จชนิดหนึ่งที่มีลักษณะคล้ายผลึกแก้วสีแดง เรียกว่า "ฟิโลโซเฟอร์ส สโตน" (Philosopher's Stone) เป็นต้น ส่วนในประเทศไทย พรานไพรคนหาของป่าก็มักมีของขลังที่มีส่วนผสมของปรอทพกติดตัวกันอยู่เสมอ
จะเห็นได้ว่าทั้งหมดทั้งมวลที่กล่าวมานี้ ปรอทจึงเป็นธาตุที่ผู้คนเชื่อถือว่าเป็นของศักดิ์สิทธิ์มาแต่เดิม คนโบราณจึงนำมาสร้างเป็นวัตถุธาตุทางเวทย์มนต์เอาไว้มากมายหลายแขนง อย่างแขนงนึงก็เชื่อว่าถ้าสามารถทำให้ปรอทเปลี่ยนสถานะไปจากเดิม หรือมีความแข็งระดับนึงได้โดยไม่ผ่านความร้อน จะสามารถคงคุณสมบัติและคุณวิเศษของปรอทไว้ได้อย่างครบถ้วน
สำหรับ "พระปรอทกันคุณ" นี้ ทางสำนักบ้านไมตรียานุสรณ์ ได้นำเอาโลหะธาตุที่เป็นตัวแทนของหมู่ดาวมาผสมกับปรอท จนสามารถนำมากดพิมพ์พระได้เหมือนกับการสร้างพระเนื้อผงหรือพระเนื้อดิน แล้วจึงชุบด้วยยาซัดสูตรลับเพื่อให้ปรอทคงรูปคงตัวโดยที่ไม่ต้องผ่านกระบวนการทางความร้อน ซึ่งการทำให้ปรอทแข็งตัวได้ถือว่าสำเร็จในขั้นต้นแล้วสำหรับวิชาปรอทแขนงนี้

อาจารย์เจคท่านเรียกว่าพระปรอทกันคุณ ตามอิทธิคุณอันโดดเด่นด้านคุ้มครองป้องกันโดยเฉพาะ คือกันสิ่งชั่วร้ายเสนียดจัญไร กันคุณคน กันคุณไสย กันคุณผี กันยาเบื่อ กันยาเมา กันภูติผีปีศาจและสัตว์ร้ายมีเขี้ยวมีพิษต่างๆ กันไข้ป่า กันอาถรรพ์ต่างๆอันเกิดผีป่าเจ้าเขาให้โทษเป็นต้น ถือเป็นของวิเศษที่ผู้ศรัทธาสามารถห้อยบูชาเพื่อคุ้มครองตนจากภยันตรายอันเกิดจากสิ่งที่มองไม่เห็นทั้งปวง

It can be seen that all of the mentioned above, mercury is an element that people originally believed to be sacred. The ancient people used it to create many kinds of magical objects.
