ไส้เทียนที่ใช้จุดเรียกว่า "ยันต์เทียน" มีหลายชนิดตามชื่อเรียก มีพุทธคุณแตกต่างกันไปหลายด้าน เช่นช่วยเรื่องความรัก การเงิน โชคลาภ ถอนอาถรรพ์ที่ไม่ดี หนุนดวงชะตา สะเดาะเคราะห์ ตามแต่อักขระยันต์ที่ครูบาอาจารย์ผู้มีวิชาได้ลงไว้ในไส้เทียน

เป็นฤกษ์ดิถีมงคลที่เรียกว่า "จันทร์เพ็ญ" หรือจันทร์ซ้อนจันทร์ เป็นที่สุดแห่งห้วงเวลามหาเสน่ห์ “ฤกษ์ดีวันแรง” ตรงกับวันจันทร์ที่พระจันทร์เต็มดวง โบราณจารย์ทุกยุคสมัยนิยมปลุกเสกวัตถุมงคลหรือประกอบพิธีกรรมมงคล ที่เกี่ยวกับเมตตามหานิยมโชคลาภในฤกษ์นี้ เพราะอำนาจแห่งแสงทวิจันทราจะเสริมความเข้มขลังศักดิ์สิทธิ์ให้แก่วัตถุหรือพิธีนั้นๆเป็นเท่าทวีคูณ
ซึ่งวันนี้ยังตรงกับ "วันเทโวโรหณะ" แปลว่า การเสด็จลงจากเทวโลก (ของพระพุทธเจ้า) เป็นเหตุการณ์ตอนหนึ่งของพระพุทธเจ้า คือในพรรษาที่ 7 ได้เสด็จขึ้นไปจำพรรษาบนเทวโลกคือบนสวรรค์ชั้นดาวดึงส์เพื่อแสดงธรรมโปรดพุทธมารดา ครั้นถึงวันมหาปวารณา เสด็จลงจากเทวโลกในวันขึ้น 15 ค่ำ เดือน 11 ตำนานเล่าว่า พระอินทร์ทรงนิมิตบันได 3 อย่างถวาย คือ บันไดทอง บันไดแก้วมณี บันไดเงิน หัวบันไดพาดอยู่ที่ยอดเขาสิเนรุ เชิงบันไดอยู่ที่ประตูเมืองสังกัสสนคร เวลาเสด็จลงทรงใช้บันไดแก้วมณี เหล่าเทวดาลงทางบันไดทอง เหล่ามหาพรหมลงทางบันไดเงิน เรียกการเสด็จครั้งนั้นว่า เทโวโรหณะ

In the darkness of life there is always a light to shine on the brilliant way with the virtue power of the Lord Buddha and the magic power of these magic candles.
In ancient times, the masters who had studied and transmitted the textbook of magic candle subjects by writing the magical characters on the candle wick, due to the time when the Lord Buddha passed away, the lighting of the candles is a worshipping way to the Dharma and the Vinaya. This day is also called "Thewo Rohana Day", "Theworohana" means coming down from the heaven of Buddha. It is the part of Buddha's life. The legend said that, when he come back, Indra had made three ladders for him (gold, silver, and crystal). Their heads were put on the top of a mountain and their bases were at the door of Sanggas Nakorn city. When Buddha come down, he used the crystal ladder while the angels used gold ladder and the archangels used silver ladder. That is called Theworohana.
